Ten thousand years ago
a man may have stood
on this very earth site
at this very moment of night
to view Your awesome,
definitive, consistent,
dynamic, all encompassing
stellar performance.

Then another man five thousand years ago
And another a thousand years prior
And one a hundred years previous
And someone yesterday
or maybe none has viewed this performance
from this site, at this time of night ever before.

But the variable has always been mankind
and never Your Show.
And that brings a magnificent peace
to this old ex-country boy
back in the country tonight
